How to modernise your Legionella Management.
Legionella control is a critical task for businesses. Exposure to the dangerous bacteria can lead to serious illness and even death.
Because of this there is strict legislation for businesses to adhere too. Failing to comply means that you run the risk of hefty fines or even a prison sentence.
With this in mind, it’s important that you don’t remain stagnant when it comes to modernising your legionella management.
What’s wrong with my current treatments?
There are several reasons why it makes sense to take advantage of innovations in Legionella prevention.
The first is replacing traditional harsh disinfectants and protecting your water system from the corrosive effects of these treatments.
Another reason is to choose products and services that have a positive environmental footprint. Doing this means that your business is at an advantage when it comes to reducing its carbon footprint and adhering to new regulations.
Finally, using new technologies will help you to work smarter. Your business will save time, improve accuracy and be able to react faster to potential outbreaks.
Are modern treatments as effective?
One of the questions we’re often asked is “will switching my treatments have a negative impact on performance?”
It’s quite the opposite. We use the award-winning water hygiene treatment from Sand Lizard Technical Solutions.
This disinfectant is breaking the mould by combining unrivalled performance with a huge range of benefits some of which are listed below;
- 100% chlorine and alcohol free
- Defra Approved
- pH neutral when dosed
- Odour, colour and taste free
- Three-year shelf-life
How does it work?
The disinfectant is a solution of Hydrogen Peroxide (H₂O₂) which is stabilised using a proprietary based chemistry. It provides unrivalled level of performance. How? Let’s break it down.
A typical bacterium naturally emits a negative charge. The disinfectant is attracted by this charge to the site.
In catalase producing bacterium the presence of the disinfectant inhibits the defence mechanism, allowing the powerful free hydroxyl radicals to attack the cell membrane.
These free hydroxyl radicals penetrate the membrane and destroy the bacterium. Once killed the bacterium no longer emits a negative charge
The disinfectant is now attracted to the next bacteria site emitting a negative charge. Silver ions re-stabilise with excess hydrogen peroxide molecules to repeat the process.
This oxidisation process means the product is truly biodegradable with no harmful by products left during disinfection.
How can I embed technology into Legionella control?
We use Blue Tooth technology to provide businesses with the fastest, most accurate readings.
Our ordering processes have been streamlined through automated processes and the option to order through QR Codes. On top of this our move to paperless systems streamlines the process and reduces waste for all.
